Jakarta-based Ska Punk duo, Blackribbon, has officially released their latest single, "Sober Call" on September 13rd 2024, through their official YouTube channel. The band, now comprised of June Ibrahim (guitar, vocals) and Rully J. (bass, vocals), continues their journey after more than a decade of evolving sounds and lineup changes.
Formed in 2011 with four members, Blackribbon is now focused on delivering their distinctive social commentary through their music. Their latest release, "Sober Call," is a hard-hitting critique of excessive alcohol consumption and its psychological and physical effects. The track blends heavy guitar distortion with trumpet melodies, encapsulating the chaotic energy of a party scene, where moments of joy and anxiety intertwine.
With its powerful message, “STOP DRUNK BEFORE YOU FALL,” the song serves as a reminder that while parties are meant to release stress, it’s crucial to remain mindful of the next day. The single is the first from their upcoming album, slated for release in 2025, and marks a new chapter for the band.
Produced under Atticvox and in collaboration with Brave Studio, the track showcases Blackribbon’s commitment to authenticity and social awareness. Ibrahim himself took on the role of producer, working closely with Rully J. to craft this impactful song.
