#BreakingNews : Tono Prance Returns with New Single "Juru Selamat" After Two-Year Hiatus
Jakarta-based Rock band Tono Prance has made a powerful comeback with their latest single, Juru Selamat, marking their first release in nearly two years since their last EP in 2022. Now performing as a four-piece band, the group features Val (vocals), Ichwan (guitar), Guruh (drums), and their newest member, Bogol (bass).
The single, conceptualized by Val, delivers fresh energy to Tono Prance’s signature sound while maintaining the band’s hallmark heavy, crunchy guitar riffs by Ichwan, vintage rock drumming by Guruh, and Val's clean yet soaring vocal style. Bogol’s basslines add a dynamic layer to the arrangement, creating a renewed and modern feel for their music.
Founded in 2014, Tono Prance initially comprised Iwan (rhythm guitar), Novaldi (vocals), Guruh (drums), Iqbal (lead guitar), and Ajid (bass). Over time, lineup changes saw the departure of Iqbal and Ajid, with Bogol stepping in to reinvigorate the band’s creative process.
The single Juru Selamat explores themes of a world on the brink of apocalypse, drawing inspiration from religious beliefs about a savior who will guide humanity to salvation. It critiques today’s social issues, including endless global conspiracies, escalating conflicts, and growing societal unrest, emphasizing the need for a guiding figure in tumultuous times.
To bring this vision to life, the band collaborated with local artist Kang Septian (@mutanrima), known as the vocalist of Siksa Kubur and Mouthless, for the single’s artwork, and Uta (@otisstudio_) for the accompanying animation.
Juru Selamat will premiere on digital music platforms on Friday, November 22, 2024. This marks the first step in Tono Prance’s journey toward releasing a new album. Stay tuned and experience the rebirth of Tono Prance in their latest release!
