#BreakingNews : SEPATU RUSAK Releases EP album ALIVE, A Fierce Reflection of Life
After nine years in the scene and multiple single releases, Sukabumi-based Pop Punk/Hardcore band Sepatu Rusak has officially released their long-awaited EP album, ALIVE on December 22, 2024. This five-track release serves as a raw reflection of life's disappointments and anger, translated into energetic punk and hardcore beats.
Previously released in a physical cassette tape format in September, ALIVE is now available on all digital music platforms. The EP is heavily influenced by modern wave bands like Four Years Strong, Neck Deep, No Pressure, and Turnstile, blending their essence into the band’s signature sound. Tracks such as "Membekas Tajam," "Hiraukan Power," and "Anger" deliver high-energy punk aggression, while "Juni" offers a deeply personal narrative about a parent’s loss of a child born in June, inspired by the real-life experience of a band member.
More than just an album, ALIVE acts as a stress release, inviting listeners to embrace life's struggles through fast-paced, hard-hitting anthems.
Despite past lineup changes, the quartet—Yoga (vocals), Feby (bass), Ary (guitar), and Abay (drums)—has remained highly productive. Since forming in 2015, they once collaborated with Aquarius Musikindo, one of Indonesia’s major labels, for their single "Inspired By The Haters." For this EP, however, Sepatu Rusak chose to work with independent label Crowded Records.
A Band Born from Skate Culture
Sepatu Rusak was born from the skateboarding scene, where members frequently wore out their shoes while practicing tricks—leading to the band's name. Their music is heavily influenced by 90s-2000s punk and hardcore punk, often featured in skateboarding videos, now infused with a fresh new wave touch.
With previous singles like "Super Power" and "Jeda Untuk Esok," the band continues to evolve, making their latest track "Anger" a standout indie release of 2024.
